Lot Essay

Dr. J. Kroes (Chinese Armorial Porcelain, pp. 191-2) identifies these arms as of Casparus Greven and Anna Jacoba Lea Gronard(t), who married at the Dutch settlement in Batavia between 1750 and 58.
