Meiji period (late 19th century), sealed Moriguchi
The vases of baluster form on stepped bases with three bracket feet, worked in gold and silver nunomezogan and hirazogan, each with a large shaped panel with scenes of a ferry crossing a river with passengers, on the other vase a passenger awaits the boat on shore, an overlapping fan-shaped panel with birds and dense foliage, a band of rolling drip pattern to the shoulder with inlaid grapevines, the lip with gilt fretwork; sealed on side
