A LARGE GILT-LACQUERED BRONZE FIGURE OF A SEATED GUARDIAN
MING DYNASTY, 16TH/17TH CENTURY
Finely cast seated in an alert stance with the left hand resting on his knee and his right hand clenched in a fist, dressed in long robes tied at the chest and just below the knees with the hems incised with stylised clouds, the round face with a frowning expression framed by long pendulous ears, the flame-like hair arranged in three peaks and tied by a single band with a skull at the forehead
