A GREEK BRONZE SITULA
CLASSICAL PERIOD, CIRCA 5TH CENTURY B.C.
Of hammered sheet, the concave body with a rounded base, sharply carinated shoulders and a flaring rim, the handle-plates secured by two rivets on each side, with an ovolo molding in relief along its upper edge, fluted loops above, the bail handle fluted along its length, surmounted by a suspension ring, with foliate projections on either side, the ends threaded through the handle-plate loops, bent back and terminating in knob finials
