A GREEK BRONZE OINOCHOE
CLASSICAL PERIOD, CIRCA EARLY 5TH CENTURY B.C.
The ovoid body on a flaring foot, the tall cylindrical neck widening to a trefoil mouth, the vertical fluted handle cast separately, terminating below in a palmette, the upper end with a lion head where it joins to the rim, the mane and face incised, the forepaws ending in two simian heads, with lathe-turned concentric rings on the underside of the foot
