A FINELY PAINTED IRON-RED GROUND FAMILLE ROSE WALL VASE
QIANLONG GILT FOUR-CHARACTER SEALMARK AND OF THE PERIOD (1736-1795)
Modelled as a baluster vase supported on an integral faux bois stand, decorated in the famille rose palette one side with a flowering peony sprays growing from one side within a moulded and gilt cartouche, against an iron-red ground finely gilt to depict scrolling lotus flowers, the waisted neck similarly decorated with a stylised Shou character below a descending bat, flanked on either side with a pair of archaistic dragon handles, enamelled in turquoise, the flat reverse side enamelled in iron-red with florettes covering the spur marks
