SEVEN VARIOUS SNUFF-BOXES
18th and 19th Centuries
Comprising a Karelian birch box centred by a silver coin depicting the portrait of King William III of the Netherlands (20 mm. diam.), third quarter 19th Century - 7.8 cm. diam.; a papier mache snuff-box mounted with a miniature depicting Hippocrates, signed Adele Marschall and dated 1836, the interior cover depicting a lady with a serpent - 8.7 cm. diam.; An English brass box impressed with the portrait of William Pitt, circa 1800 - 5.5 cm. diam.; a blue lacquer snuff box with tortoiseshell lining, the lid with profile portraits of a lady and her seven children inscribed TOUS ME SOUT CHERS; an ormolu snuff-box, circa 1770, the enamelled lid (distressed) with classical ruins - 4 cm. wide; and two English silver-mounted shagreen boxes - 15 cm. wide each (7)
