A LARGE MOTTLED GREEN JADE FACETED ARCHAISTIC BALUSTER VASE AND COVER
QIANLONG/JIAQING PERIOD (1736-1820)
With flattened body and raised on a pedestal foot, well carved in low relief around the midsection with a band of stylized taotie masks between an upper band of demi-taotie and a lower band of stylized birds and taotie, the tapered neck similarly decorated between a pair of handles carved in openwork as leafy peony stems, the rim incised with a band of key fret repeated on the short, flared foot beneath a band of stylized lappets and archaistic scroll, and on the cover carved on each side with further stylized taotie masks beneath the tall finial
