Lot Essay

PUBLISHED:
H. Jucker, "Zwei Hellenistische Isisköpfe aus Ägypten," Alessandria e il mondo Ellenistico-Romano, Rome, 1983, pp. 185-189.
Based on the Praxitelian prototype of the 4th Century B.C.,the style of the present head suggests an Alexandrian workshop. The back of the head and remaining figure would have been finished in stucco.
Hans Jucker suggests that this might be from the same workshop as lot 118.
