Cette figure d'applique en fort relief représentant un lion, symbole de Saint Marc a été ciselée avec beaucoup de précision et de soin. Les dimensions de cette applique, sa belle qualité permettent de présumer qu'elle ornait une croix de procession du XIVème siècle et devait être accompagnée de symboles analogues des trois autres Evangélistes.
The present gilt-copper ajoure applique depicting a lion, symbol of Saint Mark, has been chased with great care and precision. Its dimensions and the beautiful quality suggest that it formerly adorned one terminal of a processional cross of the 14th century, and would have been complemented by similar symbols of the other three evangelists.
