Two similar Sicilian waisted albarelli
Palermo, each painted with a full length portrait of a bishop, both wearing mitres and capes enriched in ochre, one in black, with white robes, one bishop holding a palm leaf and a book, within oval panels on grounds painted with devices including drums, lutes, sheilds, banners and helmets, between bands of leaves -- 11¾in. (30cm.) high, 17th century (the albarello with the bishop wearing a black cape damaged and repaired to the reverse, the other with a repaired and overpainted chip to rim, both with some flaking and crazing)
