A VERY RARE SMALL BRONZE STOVE AND COVER
LATE SHANG/EARLY WESTERN ZHOU DYNASTY, 12TH-11TH CENTURY BC
Cast as a fangding supported atop an integral base pierced on three sides with a cross pattern and set at the front with a hinged door, the vessel cast on each side with a taotie mask repeated on the curved legs, with a pair of bail handles rising from the rim, the cover cast in similar fashion below a single loop and the rim notched to fit over the handles, with malachite encrustation
