The convex side carved in low relief with an archaistic bird's head above angular scrolls on the longer tab, the shorter tab with a slit, the concave reverse carved with the four-character mark above an eleven-character inscription, the translucent stone of even color and finely polished

Lot Essay

The mark, Qianlong yu shang (for the appreciation of Qianlong), precedes the inscription which may be translated, 'calligraphy written by Zhang Jizhi from the poem Chunri xiti by Du Fu.'
