Comprised of fifty-one vessels including dishes, bowls, cups and cup stands, each painted with one of the ten famous scenes of Jiangxi and inscribed in black calligraphy with a poem describing the scene below the gilt rim, the base of each vessel decorated with a seal in iron-red identifying the scene, with the exception of one cup

Lot Essay

The ten famous scenes of Jiangxi are: Huazhou chunxiao (Spring dawn on Flower Island), Magu xiantan (Immortal Magu's Temple), Tengge gaofeng (noble enlightenment of the Pavilion of King Teng), Lushan pubu (the Lu Mountain Waterfall), Nanpu guifan (sails returning to the South shore), Donghu yeyue (the moon above the East Lake at night), Xuting yanliu (wispy willows at the Xu pavilion), Xishan diecui (layered green on the West Mountain), bailu gudong (the ancient cave of white deer), and Xunyang qiubo (the Autumn scene of Xunyang Lake).
