Poetry, Persian manuscript on paper, 456ff. plus 8 fly-leaves, with 23ll. of black nasta'liq within gold rules and frame, the text often divided in two columns with double-ruled intercolumnar divisions, some of them with polychrome and gold floral scrolls, headings in red ink within gold rules, eight illuminated folios with polychrome and gold headpieces decorated with floral scrolls within medallions, those and the subsequent folio with marginal illumination with gold and polychrome floral sprays and arabesques, the text in cloud-bands reserved on gold ground within red and gold frame, in original lacquer binding, the doublures with two figurative scenes, a few loose bifolio

Lot Essay

According to the notes on the flyleaf, the manuscript was purchased in Shiraz on 10 Rabi' I AH 1270 (11 December 1853) by Mihr 'Ali son of Shukrullah Khan Nuri and stayed in the Nuri family including Sadiq al-Mulk the deputy Foreign Minister until it was presented for the library of the Prime Minister Amin al-Sultan.
