A SINO-TIBETAN GILT-BRONZE DECORATED ROCK CRYSTAL CARVING OF A CONCH SHELL
19TH CENTURY
The carved rock crystal is decorated to the sides of the shell's aperture with panels enclosing pairs of sinuous scaly dragons in gilt bronze. It is further applied with the Eight Buddhist Emblems, bajixiang also in gilt bronze.
10 in. (25.4 cm.) long
Provenance
Property from a Private European Collection amassed by a Portuguese Ambassador in Asia during the early 20th Century.
