Lot Essay

This play-club was once part of a set of nine clubs which were purchased from Philp by Sir Hew Dalrymple who discovered golf was not to his liking but stored them until 1881 when he then presented them to J.E. Laidlay; this play-club is unused and displays completely original features of construction and finish.
