Lot Essay

This is the dress that Daphne Guinness and Mario Testino fell in love with for its 'gothic' qualities. They chose it for a 2008 Vogue shoot, because they thought it so 'regal'. Daphne chose to feature it in the exhibition at the Fashion Institute of Technology, flying the flag for ballgowns, and she donated it for sale to breathe new life into it.
