Lot Essay

This tall tower-like composition, which reveals Milne's architectural interest, was issued in cold-cast aluminium and cold-cast bronze variations from an originating plaster. By contrast possible organic associations stem from the central upright, seeming to grow naturally from a 'bulbous' base configuration. To this extent Project is less sleekly monolithic than the similarly vertical Totemic of the same year, containing as it does two formal ideas - one entangled and ground-based the other straight, erect and sky-bound.
