Lot Essay

Originally built on the ruins of a 12th Century Augustinian Priory, Arbury Hall was transformed by Sir Roger Newdigate during the second half of the 18th Century to become one of England's finest examples of Gothic Revival Architecture. The interior is renowned for its spectacular displays of soaring fan vaulted ceilings with plunging pendants and filigree tracery, as seen in the work offered above.
