The shallow dish is finely decorated in the interior with a scene of boys at play, the wu zi deng ke, which refers to the supreme achievement of one family whose five sons passed the civil service examination, below a band of flower scroll and gilt rim. The exterior is decorated with three lotus sprays. A Hongxian yuzhi mark is written in iron red on the base.
