A RARE LARGE JADE-EMBELLISHED ZITAN FLOWER-FORM BOX AND COVER
18TH/EARLY 19TH CENTURY
The box and cover are in the shape of a five-petaled plum blossom. The top of the cover is inlaid in white and green jade with a formal floral design formed by hibiscus sprays of different sizes, conjoined foliate leaves and archaistic dragon scrolls that radiate outward from a central flower head. The interior is fitted with six brass trays: a central tray of plum blossom form surrounded by five trays of conforming outline.
