A GERMAN 28-BORE FLINTLOCK HOLSTER PISTOL
LATE 18TH CENTURY
With two-stage octagonal to round sighted barrel, tang numbered '2', flat bevelled lock engraved with a seated huntsman beneath the pan and with a stag being brought down by a hound on the tail, older replacement figured walnut full stock, cast and chased brass mounts including side-plate with a scene involving two horseman in contemporary attire riding out from an encampment to meet a solitary horseman with two captive women tied to a classical pillar behind, shaped dark horn fore-end cap, and later horn-tipped ramrod; together with ANOTHER, OF 22-BORE, LATE 18TH CENTURY, with swamped octagonal to round barrel with full length sighting-flat and brass spider fore-sight, associated flat bevelled lock rebuilt from percussion, carved figured walnut full stock with shaped chequered panels on the butt, cast and chased brass mounts including side-plate depicting a battle between horsemen, shaped brass escutcheon, and original wooden ramrod
