SIGNED HAMDI, ERZURUM, EASTERN ANATOLIA, LATE 19TH CENTURY
Of typical shape, the slightly curved blade with double fuller, decorated at the forte with an elegant gold-damascened inscription in nasta'liq script, the hilt carved with gilt and nielloed floriated scrolls, the leather sheath with silver mounts with nielloed and carved decoration, with an applied gilt trophy bearing the tughra of Sultan 'Abd al-Hamid II (r. 1876-1909 AD), good condition overall
