Recollections of India. London: Thomas M'Lean, 1847. Two parts in one volume, 2° (540 x 360mm). Two titles. 25 (of 26) tinted lithographic plates by J.D. Harding after C.S. Hardinge, all coloured by a later hand. (Lacking plate 9 'Panjab/Entry into Lahore', occasional scattered light spotting, text leaf to pl. 4 loose, title to part I with very short marginal tears repaired to verso.) Original quarter purple morocco over black moiré fine ribbed cloth sides, lettered in gilt to upper cover (extremities rubbed, corners more heavily, small patch of cloth to upper board missing, the whole sometime recased and interleaved with new plate guards).

The fine hand-coloured plates plates illustrate British India and the Punjab, Kashmir and the Alpine Punjab. Besides the views, the plates also include portraits of the Maharajah Dulip Singh, Rajah Lal Sing, Gulab Sing, and Sheik Imam-ud-Din Runjur Sing. Abbey Travel 472; Tooley 244.
