AN ATTIC BLACK-FIGURED NECK AMPHORA
ATTRIBUTED TO THE LIGHT-MAKE CLASS, CIRCA 490-480 B.C.
One side with the central figure of Apollo playing a kithara, a plectrum held in his right hand, flanked on either side by a draped female, tightly wrapped in their himations, each with one arm raised; the other side with central armed hoplite wearing greaves and a Corinthian helmet, carrying a spear and a large shield with three white balls as the device, an attendant either side carrying a spear; scrolling tendrils with palmette terminals under the handles, rays above foot, a band of tear-drops under the scene, double ivy band around neck, details in added white and red
