A GRAECO-ROMAN GOLD AND CARNELIAN CAMEO RING
CIRCA 1ST CENTURY B.C.-1ST CENTURY A.D.
The wide hollow gold hoop, flat on interior, rounded on exterior, widening to a large oval bezel decorated with a band of repoussé ovolo, set with a roughly oval shaped carnelian cameo bust of Zeus, with head slightly turned to his right, with finely detailed luxuriously curling hair and beard, long curving moustache, wearing an oak wreath, eyes articulated, drapery over his left shoulder
Cameo: 1 1/8 in. (2.8 cm.) long; ring size I
