Each cushion-form with high domed cover, the cover with lion's-mask and calyx finial on a gadrooned border, the dishes with gadrooned rims and shells and leaves at intervals, the covers engraved with an Earl's coat-of-arms, on conforming Sheffield-plated warming stands with lion's paw feet, marked on dishes, covers, finials, and stands
The dishes 11½ in. (29.2 cm.) long; 309 oz. 10 dwt. (9,640 gr.) weighable silver (4)

Lot Essay

The arms are those of Coventry with those of Pitches in pretence, for George William, 7th Earl of Coventry (1758-1831), who married Peggy, co-heiress of Sir Abraham Pitches in 1783.
