A PAIR OF BLUE AND WHITE BALUSTER VASES AND COVERS
KANGXI PERIOD (1662-1722)
Each vase is moulded to the body with bands of lappets and shaped cartouches on a keyfret ground. The central band is decorated to each panel with qilin, between bands of pairs of birds perched on rocks amongst flowers, all beneath a panelled band with rabbits to the shoulder. The covers are similarly decorated with shaped panels, each depicting a bird perched on a rock, surrounded by a keyfret band. The base has a leaf mark within a double circle.
