BINDING -- SARPI, Paolo (1552-1623). Histoire du Concile de Trente. London: Samuel Idle, 1736. 2 volumes, 2° (410 x 257mm). Portrait frontispieces and headpiece engraved by Vertue. (Light spotting to first frontispiece and facing leaf, occasional negligible soiling.) Red straight-grained morocco by Christian Kalthoeber with his ticket in volume I, sides with a wide foliate border with floral corner tools, flat spines gilt in compartments, some centred with an urn tool, green morocco labels lettered in gilt, black morocco numbering pieces, the edges marbled and gilt, marbled endpapers (extremities lightly rubbed, light soiling on sides). Provenance: remnants of label -- Abdy (small label printed in green).
