A SAXON GLASS DATED ARMORIAL HUMPEN AND A COVER
THE HUMPEN DATED 1697
Cylindrical, enamelled and gilt with the full Saxon coat-of-arms below a gilt banner initialled F.A.H/Z.S.I.C.B.E./U W.C, flanked by the inscription Moritzburgifche Kellerey and the date 1697, below a gilt band with white seeded ornament, with a kick-in base, supported on a foot-ring with white dash ornament, the domed cover with a knopped finial, with gilt and enamel lozenge and scroll panels

Provenance
Augustus the Strong, Elector of Saxony and King of Poland (1670-1733), for the Hofkellerei, Schloss Moritzburg.
Thence by descent in the Royal Collections of Saxony.
Property of the Free State of Saxony, 1918.
Restituted to the former Royal family of Saxony (Haus Wettin, Albertinische Linie e.v.) in 1924 as part of the agreement with the State of Saxony ('Gesetz ber die Auseinandersetzung zwischen dem Freistate Sachsen und dem vormalign Königshause. Vom 21. Juli 1924'; 'Law of the Dispute between the Free State of Saxony and the former Royal house on 21 July 1924').
Probably returned to Schloss Moritzburg, Saxony, circa 1925 (bearing the inventory numbers G258 in yellow enamel and A.86 in white enamel, engraved inventory numbers 39499x and 39500.).
Restituted to the Royal House of Wettin, 1999.
