A SMALL WHITE AND RUSSET JADE LINGZHI-FORM GARMENT HOOK
18TH CENTURY
The garment hook is well carved as a stem of lingzhi bearing eight fungus heads of varying sizes including one forming the hook, one the button on the underside, and two at the end which are highlighted by the russet skin of the white stone.

Lot Essay

A small white jade belt hook of the same size similarly carved as eight sprouting lingzhi heads of various sizes, dated 18th to 19th century, from the Tuyet Nguyet Collection, is illustrated in Virtuous Treasures: Chinese Jades for the Scholar's Table, University Museum and Art Gallery, The University of Hong Kong, 2007, p. 204, no. 128.
