Second edition. The best known work by Palomino de Castro is El museo pictorico y escala optica, first printed in Madrid in 1715 (see next lot for the second edition). It was through that work and those that followed, including the present Vidas de los pintores, that Palomino became known as the 'Spanish Vasari'. Palau XII, 210729.
