The case of typical form, the violin-shaped hood surmounted by giltwood figural finials, the foliate-carved trunk door with gilt-brass lenticle depicting Father Time, the violin-shaped polychrome-painted dial depicting river gods above a recessed panel with seven rocking ships and a figure in front of a Dutch river scene and a village, a penny moon to the right upper corner, the silvered chapter ring signed J.P. Kroese Amsterdam surrounding the brass engraved and matted center with subsidiary seconds ring, flanked by sectors for month and day of week, and date aperture above VI, the brass four-pillar movement with anchor escapement and Dutch strike on two bells, with alarm mounted to the side; pendulum, a small weight and four large weights, winding key
