A LARGE EMBELLISHED WHITE JADE HAIRPIN
LATE MING/QING DYNASTY
The long, tapering, pale greenish-white jade hairpin is carved at one end with a flower, which is now enclosed within an elaborate gilt-metal casing composed of intertwining stems of kingfisher-embellished leaves, peonies and bamboo, and further embellished with spring-mounted birds and pearls, as well as four inlays of mother-of-pearl, malachite and coral.
