Two parts in one volume, 4o (260 x 158 mm). Estienne's woodcut device on title (Renouard 10). Greek type; Camerarius' commentaries mostly in Roman. (Lacking final blank, title slightly soiled, two tiny wormholes in lower margin, M1-4 with repairs in lower margin, some occasional pale browning.) Early 18th-century red morocco gilt, spine in six compartments with five raised bands, gilt-lettered in two and gilt-decorated in the remaining (slightly rubbed, one scratch on rear cover). Provenance: J. Detanguy? (early signature on title); Thomas Dampier (1748-1812), Bishop of Rochester, later Bishop of Ely (bookplate), his collection purchased in 1812 by; William Cavendish (1790-1858), sixth Duke of Devonshire (Chatsworth Library bookplate); acquired from David O'Neal, 1990.

FIRST ESTIENNE EDITION, and an important edition for the Scholia, which include those of Triclinius. The Greek text is followed by the commentary of Joachim Camerarius, and his Latin versions of "Ajax" and "Elektra."
