A LARGE RECTANGULAR CELADON JADE CENSER AND COVER
19TH/20TH CENTURY
The vessel has twin monster-head handles with loose rings and rests on four legs fashioned as stylised elephant heads. The shaped body is carved in low relief with archaistic masks either side of twin columns of raised flanges. The cover is surmounted by a double-headed monster, the mottled celadon stone with cloudy white flecks.

Private English Collection, acquired circa 1970 from a member of the First American Volunteer Group, nicknamed the "Flying Tigers", who acquired it, by repute, in China during the Second World War.
