Further details
This stool-altar from the Bartos collection has four struts carved in high relief with alternating pairs of nommo figures in a very minimalist form, and long crocodiles. With the zigzag pattern of water, the figures and the crocodiles the image is a sort of Mobius band which constantly interrelates the themes of ancestry, water, fertility and life itself.

Lot Essay
