A DECORATIVE FULL ARMOUR IN GERMAN EARLY 16TH CENTURY 'MAXIMILIAN' STYLE
ALMOST CERTAINLY FROM THE ATELIER OF ERNST SCHMIDT, MUNICH, LATE 19TH EARLY 20TH CENTURY
Of bright steel, comprising close-helmet with fluted skull and twin low roped combs, bellows visor, bevor shaped to the chin, and rear neck-guard of two plates, gorget of three plates front and rear, cuirass comprising globose breast-plate with moveable arm-gussets, two-piece back-plate shaped to the shoulders and with culet of two plates, skirt of three plates shaped to the fork and bearing tassets of four-plates each, full arm defences including pauldrons each with applied haute-piece, mitten gauntlets, and full leg harnesses each with large poleyn and bear-paw sabaton, the principle plates fluted throughout and with roped edges, on a stand with wooden base, and with a decorative two-hand broadsword in German 16th century style with straight quillons and rounded pommel (2)
