SECOND HALF OF THE 18TH CENTURY
With swamped octagonal to round barrel with slightly raised sighting-flat running almost to full length and engraved with a band of beadwork at the breech, scroll engraved tang (old repair), flat bevelled lock with downcurved tail, moulded border, engraved with the initials 'GBC' beneath the priming-pan and with maker's stamp between the arms of the steel-spring (steel replaced), moulded figured walnut three-quarter stock (fore-end cracked and repaired), and brass mounts decorated throughout in low relief with sprays of foliage including solid side-plate, and later brass-tipped ramrod
