THE BLADE SPANISH, LATE 17TH EARLY 18TH CENTURY
With tapering double-edged blade of flattened hexagonal section cut with twin fullers and etched with inscriptions and a large orb and cross on each side at the forte, grooved oblong ricasso, later iron hilt comprising guard of rounded bars including straight quillons, knuckle-guard and upper and lower side-rings each cut with a chequered pattern on the outer face, inner-guard of slender bars, grooved wire-bound grip with Turk's heads, and fig-shaped pommel cut with chequering en suite with the guard
