A DECORATIVE PAIR OF GERMAN WHEEL-LOCK HOLSTER PISTOLS
17TH CENTURY AND LATER
With octagonal to round barrels and rounded locks from munition type holster pistols, each embellished with etched scrollwork, mostly light, and deeper etched ornament to the exposed wheels involving human masks and dragon-heads, sliding pan-covers, in later fruitwood full stocks each profusely inlaid with engraved white staghorn lines, plaques and panels involving foliage, flowers, birds and dragon flies all heightened with mother-of-pearl, large fluted ball pommels each decorated en suite, iron trigger-guards, and wooden ramrods each with white staghorn tip, one barrel with a Nuremberg mark, the other with a worn maker's mark; together with A COW-HORN COMBINED PRIMING-FLASK AND WHEEL-LOCK SPANNER, in 17th century style
