JIAQING SIX-CHARACTER SEAL MARK IN IRON-RED AND OF THE PERIOD (1796-1820)
The exterior of the body is decorated with four circular panels containing the characters for the greeting wan shou wu jiang, 'boundless longevity', surrounded by stylised lotus blooms on leafy scrolls. The interior of the bowl is decorated to the centre with a roundel enclosing further stylised lotus blooms and tendrils. The inner mouth rim is encircled with a band of alternating iron-red flower heads borne on leafy stems.

Lot Essay

Compare with two pairs of yellow-ground dishes, also with circular cartouches with wan shou wu jiang to the exterior, which were both sold in these rooms, one on 15 May 2012, lot 319, and the other on 10 May 2011, lot 301.
