REPUBLIC PERIOD (1912-49)
The vase is decorated with four mountainous landscape panels, one depicting a scholar fishing on a boat with a crane, one depicting a scholar crossing a wooden cliffside bridge, one depicting a scholar fishing by a waterfall, and one depicting a scholar and two attendants by the riverside. The last panel is painted with two seals in iron-red Xuren and He chu. The panels are bordered with gilt flower and chime scrolls on a coral ground. The base with an iron-red and gilt Jing Yuan Tang Zhi mark.

Lot Essay

Jing yuan tang zhi may be translated as "Made for the hall of quiet distances", which was a mark used in the 18th and 20th centuries.
