A CYPRIOT POTTERY PYXIS AND LID
CYPRO-ARCHAIC I, CIRCA 750-600 B.C.
Square in form on four rectangular feet, the flat lid with a domed knob, perforated vertically, conforming to a drilled conical lug along one interior wall of the bowl, the body decorated in polychromy in three registers, the upper with a row of rosettes, the middle with a row of lotuses, the lower with arches, the upper surface of the lid with rosettes around the perimeter of three edges, rows of arches in the center and around the knob handle, arches on the exterior edges
5 in. (12.7 cm.) high including the lid
