A RARE WHITE JADE STEM CUP
MING DYNASTY (1368-1644)
The cup is carved with rounded sides rising from a tall splayed foot to a flaring rim. The stone is of an even white tone with an unctuous texture.

Lot Essay

Compare to a larger (16 cm. diam.) white jade stem cup in the Tibet Museum, exhibited at Treasures from Snow Mountains: Gems of Tibetan Cultural Relics, p. 188, no. 98 (fig. 1), which shares a very similar contour to the current cup.
