Lot Essay

On 2nd November Tuke noted in his diary 'Painting Harry Cleave in various studies, naval costume etc.' This work is directly comparable to Tuke's first exhibit at the Royal Watercolour Society as a member in Spring 1904, Blue-Jackets Yarn (R407).
We are grateful to Catherine Wallace for preparing this catalogue entry.
