Engraved map of the Holy Land, hand-colored, image 370 x 503 mm (436 x 538 mm sheet). The title cartouche is decorated with vignettes of the birth, crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus, a scene of Jonah and the whale in the lower left corner. English text on verso. (A few minor marginal tears, closed on verso).
The map first appeared in Ortelius' Theatrum Orbis Terrarum in 1584. It is designed by Christian Schrot, based on the description of Petrus Laicstain. Laor 543D; Nebenzahl 31.
