A CARVED AND PIERCED CELADON JADE 'HUNTING' PLAQUE
LIAO DYNASTY (907-1124) OR LATER
The shaped cartouche is carved in high relief with a hunter on horseback firing his bow and arrow at a rearing tiger-like beast, a hare and deer below, all on a finely pierced geometric ground. The stone is of a celadon tone with darker green and russet flecks.
