A WHITE AND RUSSET JADE RECTANGULAR PLAQUE
18TH/19TH CENTURY
It is carved with two deer beneath a pine tree and to the reverse with a poetic inscription in seal script reading 'Bieyou Tiandi Feirenjian' that relates to the beauty of the landscape, and with the two-character seal 'Wen Wan' that may be translated as 'play thing'. The upper section is carved and pierced with two confronting dragons flanking shuangxi or 'double happiness' characters.
